Volunteer Opportunities
Want to help our amazing Library but can’t commit to a Board position? Are you a caregiver who has free time when school is in session? Are you a teen, adult, or part of a family looking to improve our community through volunteerism or community service? We have an opportunity for you!
The Foundation operates with several subcommittees to accomplish our goals. These subcommittees are mobilized around specific tasks. The list of current subcommittees is below and highlights key tasks associated with each. If any of them sound like a good fit for you or someone you know, please get in touch!
Events
- Assist in planning and/or leading various Foundation events, large or small
- Coordinate logistics and ticket sales
- Develop sponsorship opportunities and solicit businesses
- Work with Social Media & Communications subcommittees to promote
- Staff events and recruit other volunteers to assist
Board Development/Nominating Committee
- Recruit committee members to fill Board and subcommittee seats
- Conduct conversations with interested people to explain roles and expectations and gauge interest
- Work towards diversity in Board membership to represent the library's patrons
Donor Recruitment/Solicitation
- Write annual appeal letters
- Draft year-end impact report and work with a designer to produce it
- Solicit Sponsors for KPLF events
Stewardship/Donor Recognition/Legacy
- Fulfill donor recognition based on tied plan
- Write thank you notes to donors as gifts are received
- Produce stewardship vehicles for donor recognition (name displays, giveaways, etc.)
Communications
- Design and distribute Constant Contact emails to promote special events and activities as needed
- Contribute to monthly Library e-newsletter
- Assist with communications and branding projects
Social Media
- Compose engaging social media posts
- Design program, campaign and event flyers and posters
- Recognize sponsors and supporters on social platforms
Finance
- Periodically assess financial status
- Make recommendations on investment strategies
- Write grant applications
